Monhegan's Schoolteacher (2000-2004), Jamie Wyeth, mixed-media on toned board, h: 18 x w: 24 in / h: 45.7
I love the contrained palette Wyeth used in this painting. I look and see three colors.Titanium White; Burnt Umber, and Payne's Grey. I hope mixed media means "whatever works", because that is what I do.
I spent part of my life near the Wyeth home in Pennsylvania, and though I remember many trips to the Brandywine Museum, I don't remember seeing many Wyeths. Which is a complete and total shame.
Three generations of painters. Imagine, for one, just having that kind of support for your career choice within your own family.
Stumbled up your blog. I have enjoyed reading. I met Jamie Wyeth two years ago when his seagull series came to my city. He is a delightful person and a wonderful artist. I am happy to have found your blog.

I didn't know you had lived in PA! My daughter is starting grad school at Villanova soon. I'm going back with her next week to help her get settled. I've never been there before!
