My mother-in-law, Ilene, sent her collection of knitting needles with Mike on his way back from Texas. I knew he was bringing some needles home with him, but I wasn't prepared for such a generous gift. Ilene loved to knit and Mike remembers never having to buy a pair of socks or a sweater when they were growing up. This is Ilene's high school graduation photo, taken in 1939.
I've only taken photos of the green ones - Ilene's needles are a bouquet of all shapes, sizes and colors and there are dozens more pairs in a big vase on my kitchen counter.
The aluminum needles have dozens of different shades of green - on my mind now that it is spring in Montana. Just fooling around with the camera, I caught this photo. It reminds me of the light installations by the artist James Turrell .
you are so cool!
