Ancestors are often remembered for some small incident. My grandma used to tell me how her mother, my great-grandma, could knit and walk at the same time. She would knit a mitten as she covered the miles to her sister's farm. On the way home, she'd knit the thumbs.
oh! OH!!! years ago, on the interwebs, i read about a little bracelet you can make, to hold a ball of yarn on your wrist, so you can knit on the train or while waiting in lines or anything....now of course i can't find anything about it. kinda like a distaff would be in spinning....
basically it keeps your yarn off the floor and keeps it from getting tangled in a bag or pocket or something.
