A few weeks ago, my sister forwarded me this blog post: "Extraordinary Seven-Year Old Seeks to Quilt for Kids in Need."
Maybe what is truly extraordinary about it is that it moved my sister (who doesn't exactly *love* kids; at least kids she doesn't know...) to enter a gentle plea for me to share some of my fabric.
I'm sure my sis would share her own fabric, but she doesn't have any. A side effect of being super-tidy is that you don't have jack on hand for art supplies, should you really need them.
But since I love my sister and I'd do anything for her - even force our mother into showering against her will - I packed up some stuff and mailed it off to Maddie. I think what convinced me was my sister's argument that she couldn't understand why, but Maddie's story touched her, and that she was a poor little kid in the mountains.
I picked out a couple of things that had some yardage, were cute, and I knew I would never use.
Details in the original post if you want to send the kid something.
Awesome! You sent it! I can see her opening that package, seeing your cool fabric, and loving it. And dude, just so you know, you forced her to shower cuz YOU could smell her. We all know I don't have any sort of a nose. :)
